Vehicle Inspection/Maintenance Policy Review Group
The Policy Review Group was formed to determine the impact
that any changes to the existing emissions program might have
on state clean air plans.
Emerging technology issues, new federal regulations for on-board
diagnostic systems and new information about the turnover
of Pennsylvania's vehicle fleet require a re-examination of
the way vehicle emissions-testing programs are implemented
in the Commonwealth.
The following companies, organizations and government agencies
are represented on the Policy Review Group: American Lung
Association of Pennsylvania, Armstrong World Industries, Pennsylvania
AAA Federation, Pennsylvania Automotive Association, Pennsylvania
Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association, EPA,
DEP and PENNDOT.
"We believe the people who have agreed to serve in this
policy review group provide a balanced variety of ideas and
opinions about our existing vehicle emissions-testing program,
the proposed expansion of the program, and potential impacts
on consumers, public health, and the environment," DEP Acting
Secretary David E. Hess said. "We are expecting the group's
report by Fall and will be using the recommendations to make
any necessary changes to our programs."
